Root of the Problem

I just had another first!

ITSN 4/25

I had my first massage. Whole body. Now before you get all jealous-like and say, "I want a massage," there are a few side notes. First, it was doctor ordered! That's the kind of doc you want isn't it? And two, I wasn't so keen on the whole idea to begin with. Something about someone rubbing your body, no matter how medicinal it is, kind of creeps me out.

Despite all that, the reason I needed a massage was because I had stressed muscles. What's your first thought on how that happened? Strained at work? Stress from life? Sitting awkwardly? Well, that's wrong. And the real reason is much more fascinating.

It turns out a combination of my adrenal glands being exhausted and having a vitamin F deficiency actually prohibited the cells in my body from receiving the much needed nutrients floating around in my bloodstream. Because of this, my muscles began tightening from lack of nutrition and became stressed. As a result, no chiropractic adjustment would hold for longer than a week because my muscles wanted to tighten back up, snapping the bones out of alignment again. Without massages, getting my neck and back set wouldn't last. And without fixing the deficiencies in my cells, my muscles won't relax to accept the massages.

Isn't that fascinating? The body is so much more complex than we can imagine. And if I had tried to fix the surface problems (low energy, sore muscles, weak stomach) it wouldn't have cured anything. Until I started getting at the root of the problem those obvious problems I was having would just keep resurfacing.

That is so much like our life. We try to fix habits, vices, personality traits, relationships, but to what success? There might be a little, but the problems usually keep showing up again. Its the root that's the problem. Like a weed. Why do obese people eat so much? What drives a person to be arrogant or prejudice? Why do people despise God? Why do some people feel the need to blog about their lives?

This whole physical work I'm doing right now has really gotten me searching for the roots in my life that feed all my problems.

And it may take awhile....
