Sweeter than Honey

Craving Grace
By Lisa Velthouse

Six months with no sweets? Seems a little extreme, but Lisa Velthouse desired something much sweeter than just candy and ice cream. She was on a mission to discover just how sweet God really is.

Beginning her journey in the realm of legalism, Velthouse struggled to find time, peace, self-control, discipline and love. Nothing seemed to work, nothing seemed to satisfy and everything seemed to push her farther and farther from God. Until she failed, epically. In failure, she discovered God could be sweeter than any sugary treat.

I enjoyed this book, and I wasn't expecting to. It is always a little strange for a guy to wander into the mind of woman. To be honest, it seemed a little scatterbrained at the beginning. But I could relate to a lot of her life. She was a struggling, single writer drowning in coupled friends who felt left out in life and running behind. But she learned (the hard way) what I have been learning as well: even in the doldrums of life, God is teaching. And you may not be able to handle the desires of your heart right now.

This was a delightful book, and I appreciated her honesty. I would recommend it for anyone desiring a deeper grasp of the Grace of God.

I received this book free from the Tyndale Publishing House in return for an honest review.
